Kandi police arrested fourth accused involved in 2 thefts incidents

Rajouri, July 25: Rajouri police have booked and arrested a resident of Boniyar Baramulla in Kashmir -presently living in Rajouri town -after he snatched Rs18000/ from a person who just came out of an ATM after withdrawing of cash.
The victim is a resident of Darhal Malikan in Rajouri while the accused has been identified as Syed Asif s/o Wazir Hussain resident of Boniyar Baramulla, at present living near Power House at Kheora (Rajouri) and is booked under section 381 IPC (FIR No. 351/2023) at Rajouri police station.
Police said the accused was already standing outside an ATM of the main Branch of J&K Bank in old town and when the victim came out of the ATM, the accused snatched the cash from him and ran away.
Acting swiftly after receiving information of this snatching, police team from City Police Post headed by in-charge police post, Sub Inspector (probationer), Sahil Chowdhary reached the spot, swung into action, and chased the unidentified accused.
Later police team succeeded in intercepting the accused and also recovered the snatched money from his possession.
Meanwhile, Kandi police in Rajouri district succeeded in arresting the fourth accused booked in theft cases who was evading arrest for the last few days.
In cases FIR No. 71 & 72/2023, Kandi police have booked four accused under sections 457, 380 IPC who on the intervening night of 4 & 5 July committed burglaries in a shop at Mohd Shafiq at Kallar Galla and at Shiv Mandir in Kotranka bazaar and escaped.
After completion of legal formalities police teams headed by SHO, Shakil Manhas & Sub Inspector (probationer) Rohit Sharma swung into action, and after going through CCTV footage, three accused were detained for questioning.
During sustained questioning, all three confessed their involvement in the burglaries.
The accused were identified as Khshfat Hussain r/o Naika (Manjakot), Khadim Hussain r/o Kotedhara (Rajouri) & Kabir Hussain r/o Mankot (Rajouri).
Police also recovered stolen items from their possessions, including clothes, garments & Manyari items worth Rs1.10 lakh & Rs 4800 cash.
The fourth accused was absconding and was arrested on Tuesday and was identified as Ashfaq Ahmed r/o Naika Panjgrain (Manjakot).
Police also recovered stolen cash amounting Rs 3337 from his possession.
“Police team worked tirelessly to gather evidence and tracked down the suspects,” said a senior police officer.
