Rajouri, April 21: A high-level security review meeting was held at Romeo Force HQs Palma Rajouri a day after 5 army personnel attained martyrdom in a terrorist attack in Poonch district, which was attended by DGP, Dilbag Singh; GOC Romeo Force; Additional DGP Jammu, Mukesh Singh, senior civil/ police officers.
Immediately after the terror attack on Army vehicle near Jaranwali Gali, the entire forest area has been cordoned and all the escape routes have been plugged to track, trace and eliminate the terrorist involved in this gruesome incident.
Additional forces have been rushed to the area. Besides senior Army officers, DGP, Dilbag Singh also visited the spot.
An NIA team has also reached the spot for further investigation. According to media reports, the well-planned attack was planned by Jaish-e-Mohammad & Let terror organisations and was executed by their trained terrorists with the help of their OGWs who are active in the area.
In the month of October 2021, a group of 4-5 terrorists had killed nine Indian soldiers in this area (in Bhata Dhurian & DKG) and Over Ground Workers had helped them to flee from the area scot-free.
Reliable sources said that the terrorists involved in attack on an Army vehicle used a car to execute the attack and the attack was so planned & severe that the soldiers got no time to retaliate.
Terrorists first open indiscriminate fire on the soldiers and on the vehicle from both the sides and then they hit the oil tank either with a grenade or with sticky bomb that engulfed the vehicle.
The terrorists used 7.62mm steel core bullets in the attack on the Army vehicle which was evident from the recovery of such fired bullets by the agencies.
After the attack on the Army vehicle, the security forces launched a massive search operation in the Bhata-Dhurian area to trace the terrorists with the help of drones and sniffer dogs.
Sources said that in the coming days more such terror attacks, including minority targeted killings, are expected in other areas because Pakistan wants to disturb the forthcoming G20 summit in Srinagar at any cost to show the International community that the J&K is a disturbed state.
Sources said that apprehending retaliation like the Balakot air strike by India, Pakistan Army/ISI has shifted the terrorists from launching pads to nearby areas.
Even villagers along LoC have been asked to shift to safer places.
