DIG RP range interacts with chemists about their role & responsibilities towards society

Adhere to safe drug dispensing rules: DIG, Dr Haseeb Mughal

Rajouri, Feb 2: Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India has launched ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ in 272 most vulnerable districts since August 2020 to address the problem of Drug Abuse among the youth of India.
In the wake of the increasing menace of drugs and misuse of scheduled drugs, DIG Rajouri-Poonch Police Range, Dr. Haseeb Mughal on Thursday held a meeting with representatives of the Chemist association of Rajouri to seek their cooperation in eradicating the menace of drugs from society.
Other senior officers present in the meeting include SSP, Mohammad Aslam; Dy SP Hqr Rajouri, Chanchal Singh; SO RPHQ, Parvez Ahmed, and SHO Rajouri Fareed Ahmed
The representatives of the Chemist Association Rajouri, chemists of Rajouri town & peripheral areas attended the meeting, & discussion was held on the issues related to the proper implementation of norms for working of chemist-drug stores across Rajouri.
Dr. Haseeb Mughal IPS, asked all the chemists to ensure that license and registration certificates are displayed at a prominent and properly visible place in their stores.
Directions have also been issued for the installation of CCTV cameras in all the chemist shops and drug stores and to keep recordings of CCTVs safe as per laid down specific procedures.
Dr. Haseeb Mughal also asked the chemists to ensure that no drugs and medicines are sold to minors & without the prescription of doctors.
“Ensure that no drugs or medicines are sold to minors in any case, only mentioned dosage and quantity of the medicine be provided to a prescription holder and no repeat medicine is given on the same prescription,.” said DIG.
DIG, Dr. Haseeb Mughal asked the concerned authority to ensure frequent inspection of stores & urge chemists to cooperate with authorities in every possible manner.
“Ensure that daily sale register, & prescription register are maintained properly as same can be examined anytime by the surprise checking Police squads,” DIG asked the chemists.
“Old and over-dated prescriptions are not to be entertained at any cost b the chemists. Accept prescription of only registered medical practitioners,” he added.
He also advised chemists to maintain a register for the disposal of expired medicines & briefed them to follow only bank transactions for ordering medicines from the stockists/suppliers.
“Any chemist found involved in sale of adulterated or spurious drugs will be dealt with firmly as per the law of land. Besides business interests, chemists should share the social responsibility by following the rules governing the sale of medicines in earnest manners,” said DIG, Dr. Haseeb Mughal.
Dr. Haseeb Mughal sought chemist’s help in curbing drug addiction as a part of ‘Nasha Mukt J&K’ and Nasha Mukt Bharat.
