Akhnoor, Aug 11: Akhnoor police under SHO Hilal Azhar busted a gang of sim card vendors operating in the jurisdiction of Police Station Akhnoor issuing sims fraudulently and accordingly arrested three vendors of sim card namely Dheeraj Kumar @ Jagatar S/o Pritam Lal R/o Dhoun Chak Khour; Rajesh Kumar @ Sonu S/o Sobha Ram R/o village Garar Tehsil Khour District Jammu; and Rohit Sharma @ Lucky S/o Romesh Sharma R/o Maira Tehsil Jourian District Jammu.
Few days back, an information through reliable sources was received in PS Akhnoor that some persons are involved in fraudulent selling of sim cards by way of preparing false documents, forging & faking identity related papers & records and are dishonestly issuing sim cards against one single photo to different persons with IDs. The POS vendors have knowingly sold such sim cards fraudulently & with corrupt and criminal intentions.
On this information a formal case FIR No. 181/2022 U/s 420/465/467/468/471 IPC was registered in P/S Akhnoor and investigation was set into motion under SHO Hilal Azhar assisted by PSI Zulfiqar Choudhary. During investigation CAF/CDR of all such sim cards has been obtained and various persons have been summoned for questioning so far and after questioning three vendors mentioned above have been arrested for their involvement in issuing fake sim cards to various persons within and outside UT of J&K. The role of other officials of Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio officials is also under scrutiny. The investigation and arrest thereof was carried out under the supervision of Varun Jandial SDPO Akhnoor and guidance of SP Rural Sanjay Sharma.
