Espionage network busted in Rajouri, two exporters arrested and booked

Rajouri, Dec 19: Two ex-porters working with the Army in the recent past have been arrested by the Rajouri police after a complaint of their alleged involvement in the spying network was lodged at Rajouri police station on Thursday.
This is the second espionage case detected in Rajouri district.
Earlier in 2015 Crime Branch of Delhi police had busted an espionage network and had arrested a serving BSF head constable, library assistant, an ex-serviceman, and a teacher, all residents of Rajouri district, and were arrested from Rajouri, Thanamandi, and Manjakot tehsils.
In the present case of espionage racket the accused had sent videos/photos of the sensitive army installations to their handlers across the LoC.
“The accused persons had shot a video clip inside the premises of Army area (erstwhile Tactical Headquarters of Rashtriya Rifles) on a mobile phone,” said a senior police officer.
The accused have been identified as Nazir Hussain s/o Chandiya, resident of Qila Darhal and Mohd Mukhtar s/o Shabbir Hussain of village Lam ( situated close to LoC) both the villages fall under the jurisdiction of the Nowshera police station.
Both the accused are ex-porters and in the past were working with the RR unit (s) reportedly somewhere in Sunderbani-Nowshera sectors.
Reliable sources said that the accused duo was reportedly in contact with ISI handlers of the Pakistan Army and had provided some sensitive photos/videos of the Army installations to their mentors
“Both the accused were under the surveillance of intelligence agencies and when their involvement was found, an FIR (No.743/2021) was registered against the accused at Rajouri police station on December 16, and an investigation was started.
Some suspects were rounded up during the investigation and during sustained questioning both the accused have been arrested.
Both the accused have been booked under relevant sections for their involvement in the spying network.
Mohd Aslam Chioudhry, SSP Rajouri who took charge of the district on Friday said: “Further investigation in this matter is under process”.
