Street hawker from UP found dead in Ramban, police says no militancy angle

Jammu, Nov 9: The body of a street hawker from Uttar Pradesh was found from a deep gorge in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, police said.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Ramban, P D Nitya said that an information was received by the Police Station, Banihal at about 1800 hours that a body was found lying in a deep gorge at Sherbibi following which a police party was immediately dispatched.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Irfan, son of Mohammad Zahoor, a resident of Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh. He was staying at Magerkote in the Ramban district.
“He was a hawker selling clothes in the rural areas and, from the spot many rags of clothes were also found which suggested that he might have gone to the area for selling the clothes,” said the SSP. She said that the body has grievous injuries due to the fall from and accordingly has been sent to SDH Banihal for the post-mortem.
“Till now, there is no militancy angle involved and apparently the injuries suggest death due to fall,” said the officer, adding that an inquest proceeding has been initiated to ascertain the circumstances of the death. UNI
