Homage paid to Lieutenant & Sepoy at Rajouri, mortal remains airlifted to home towns

Rajouri, Oct 31: The mortal remains of Lieutenant Rishi Kumar and sepoy Manjit Singh were airlifted to Jammu from Rajouri town at about 2 am on Sunday to be dispatched to their home towns in Bihar and Punjab for the last rites.
Before the airlifting of the mortal remains a wreath laying ceremony was held reportedly at Army hospital where senior officer laid wreaths and paid their homage to the martyrs.
The coffins wrapped in the tricolour were airlifted to Jammu from where the body of Lieutenant Rishi Kumar was moved to Patna in a service aircraft and then will be taken to his home town Begusarai by road.
According to Army, the body of Sepoy Manjit was taken to his native village Khera Kotli in Hoshiyarpur district in Punjab by road.
Sepoy Manjit Singh is survived by his parents, four sisters and a brother. According to media reports, Lieutenant Rishi has joined the Indian Army last year & was the only brother of two sisters.
Lieutenant Rishi was to proceed on leave to attend his younger sister’s marriage in the third week of November.
Lieutenant Rishi and Sepoy Manjit Singh had attained martyrdom in a land mine explosion on Saturday along LoC in Kalal area in Nowshera sector in Rajouri district of J&K.
Another soldier has also sustained injuries and is under treatment in the Army hospital.
The army said during an area domination patrol in Nowhera sector (district Rajouri),a mine blast occurred and two Indian Army soldiers suffered critical injuries and later succumbed to their injuries.
Another soldier who received injuries was evacuated and is under treatment, said PRO Defence.
“Lt Rishi Kumar and sepoy Manjit were brave and extremely committed to the profession of soldiering and have made the supreme sacrifice for the nation in the line of duty,” said Lt. Col Dender Anand, PRO defence.
