Rajouri, Oct 12: In recent months under an innovative approach, health workers in the Kandi Health Block in Rajouri district had approached the people at their doorsteps to achieve the 100% vaccination target for the age group of 45 and above.
This innovative approach had received appreciation from the higher authorities and even Lt Governor had applauded it and this approach was also adopted by other districts of the UT of J&K.
In another innovative approach, now health workers in Kandi Health Block approaching all the eligible people at their places of working whose jabs are due.
“Despite extensive awareness drive to educate the people about the benefits of vaccination, many among them are still avoiding vaccination. At present due to harvesting season, they are not coming to the vaccination centers” said Dr. Iqbal Malik, BMO, Kandi Health Block.
To cover all such eligible people and on the directions from Dr.Renu Sharma, Director Health Services, and Dr.Shamim Un Nisa, CMO, teams of Kandi Health Block visiting the fields, farms where people are engaged in the harvesting activities.
Health teams, teachers, and ASHAs are working in coordination to achieve this target.
The program is organised under the supervision of Dr. Iqbal Malik, BMO and a local action plan is being implemented by respective Zonal Medical Officers.
COVID vaccine provides protection against Corona Virus infection. So this new plan will help in covering even far-off and inaccessible areas.
Block Kandi has achieved 100% coverage of the first dose of Covishield Vaccine in the eligible group of 18 years and above.
“An awareness campaign has also been launched to inform people about their due dates of the second dose so that all the eligible people are fully vaccinated,” said Dr.Malik.
