The news of illegal felling of Khair trees and other tress in Jammu Division were hitting the headlines since last couple of months but the dilly-delaying policy of senior officers of Forest department has dumped the issue and it is like that they have extended departmental support to scammers.
After a long struggle of Jammu Jottings to save the ‘Green Gold’ Forest of Jammu the Chief Conservator of Forest Jammu has ordered an enquiry by constituting a committee of four members including Divisional Forest Officer Kathua as chairman; while other three including Divisional Forest Officer, Urban Forestry Division Jammu; Deputy Director, Forest Protection Force Flying Squad, Jammu; and Tariq Basher Sheikh, Technical Officer office of Conservator of Forest East Circle Jammu on 29-05-2021 vide his office No CCF/J/NG/Estt/402-09 with a clear cut directions to submit a detailed report within week’s time. On 29-05-2021 it was Saturday and the week has been completed on Friday dated 04-06-2021 but two days have already exceeded and there is no where about of the enquiry report. I tried to contact the committee members but they not attended my phone calls, reason they better know.
The evidence regarding struggle made by Jammu Jottings to save the ‘Green Gold’ has been substantiated by Chief Conservator of Forester Jammu as he mentioned the name of Jammu Jottings news paper in his enquiry order.
As I often meet with senior officers of Forest (retired) they said me that the officers who have been appointed as enquiry officer by the Chief Conservator of Forest Jammu would not achieve much out of this big scandal. They said that the enquiry should be handed over to Crime Branch to ascertain the truth in the issue. They further told Forest officers have a big excuse that villagers have cut the trees on the death or on the marriage of daughters of villagers and so on. These are the lame excuses would be sprawled over the enquiry report.
Let we see, if the same excuses and stories have been contained in this enquiry report it would be a clear indication that the constitution of enquiry committee was mere a eye-wash and the process has been initiated by the Chief Conservator of Forest Jammu is a mere cover up of the illegal felling of Khair and other trees in the Jammu Forest division.
Let we see the department will win or the scammer will win. It was already suspected that the Ranger Jammu Range Vijay Khosla is man of managing everything. He is a powerful person and he can do whatever he has laid hands on many trees and now new reports coming that he had already laid his hands on Khair trees of Simbal Laid compartment 4 & 5. He may be expert in his department affairs but he is expert in laying hands in Khair trees.
