Rajouri, Nov 28: Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO) of Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) department here at Rajouri has placed under suspension the dealer of a Fair Price Shop (FPS) for thrashing a media person.
On Friday a media person, namely Mohd Abid Qayoom associated with Early News Portal had gone to FPS being run by the accused Mohd Shabir after allegations of misappropriation of ration meant for the beneficiaries reportedly in nexus with officials of the FCS&CA department.
It was alleged by the beneficiaries that the dealer issue less ration to them against their entitled quota and sell it at higher prices at other ration shop being run by the family of the accused FPS dealer.
At the request of the beneficiaries, the victim media person had gone to the FPS of the accused to expose the nexus.
“After recording the statements of the beneficiaries at FPS, I was on way back when the sons & relatives of Mohd Shabir , FPS dealer attacked and thrashed me severely and later I was hospitalised by the locals,” said Mohd Abid Qayoom.
The Written complaint of the media person, the police after medico-legal formalities has booked the culprits and started the investigation.
The order issued by the TSO (No.TSO/FCS&CA/R/2021-22 dt 27/11/21) reads: “ A video was surfaced on the social media /news item circulated in the print media regarding thrashing of media person by FPS dealer namely Mohd Shabir of center Jamola. a perusal of the media reports reveals/transpired that the dealer has issued fewer rations to the beneficiaries as per entitlement”.
The order further reads: “The ration issued to the FPS dealers under various categories purely as per the dealers/FPS entitlement. Therefore, pending inquiry in the matter, the FPS dealer Mohd Shabir is hereby placed under suspension & the beneficiaries of the center at Jamola are attached temporarily with adjoining dealer/salesman”.
