Rajouri, Nov 15: In a major action against organised crime, Surankote Police arrested three active members of the Gopi/Ghanshyam Puria gang during a coordinated naka operation at Mirza Morh. Acting on specific intelligence, a Swift Dzire (UP 16BP 2190) was intercepted by teams led by SDPO Surankote and SHO Surankote. During the check, police recovered Rs 2,18,000 cash from the vehicle. The occupants identified themselves as Kanwaljeet Singh of Dharmu Chak (Amritsar), Mandeep Singh @ Sidhu of Jilal (Amritsar), and Harmanpreet Singh of Bujjiwali (Gurdaspur). Verification from concerned police stations confirmed that all three are active operatives of the Puria gang and had come to the region to procure weapons. Their sustained questioning led to the recovery of two pistols and live ammunition. A case has been registered at Police Station Surankote, marking a significant success in the ongoing crackdown on criminal networks in the area.
