Rajouri, June 14: In a significant development, the Rashtriya Rifles (RR) unit of the Indian Army and the J&K Police, in a joint operation, busted a terrorist hideout in Thanamandi tehsil of Rajouri district on Saturday, the second such recovery within five days. Approximately 400 grams of explosive powder and a cache of ammunition were recovered from the site. Sources said the explosive material was likely intended for use in fabricating Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). The recovery includes 48 rounds of Pika gun ammunition, 1 round of AK-47 rifle, 5 pistol rounds, approximately 400 grams of explosive powder, 1 T-shirt, and 1 tear gas shell.
The joint “search and destroy” operation was launched by the 61 RR and J&K Police based on intelligence inputs in the Bhangai-Thanamandi area.
During the operation, the security forces discovered an old terrorist hideout and seized the aforementioned materials. The recovery underlines the hideout’s role in aiding terrorist activities in the region.
This successful operation reaffirms the unwavering commitment of the security forces in their ongoing battle against terrorism.
