Jammu Police & Administration Act Tough on Drug Encroachments, Raze Notorious Peddler’s Illegal Property

Jammu, Jun 14: In a major strike against the growing menace of drug trafficking and the illegal assets funded by it, the Jammu Police, in collaboration with the South Zone team and District Administration, undertook a bold operation by demolishing unauthorized structures raised on encroached state land by a notorious drug trafficker in the jurisdiction of Police Post Phallian Mandal and Police Station Satwari.
This coordinated and high-impact action was carried out under the leadership of District Magistrate Jammu, Mr. Sachin Kumar Vaishya (IAS), and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Mr. Joginder Singh (JKPS). The operation was executed on the ground by a dedicated team led by SP City South, Mr. Ajay Sharma (JKPS), along with Tehsildar Jammu Khas Mr. Paramdeep Singh (JKAS), SDPO South Mr. Sunil Singh Jasrotia, and all concerned SHOs and In-Charges of Police Posts of South Zone.
The action followed the revelations from the ongoing investigation in FIR No. 59/2025 registered under sections 8/21/22/25 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Gandhi Nagar. The probe led to the arrest of the accused, Mohd Sadeeq alias Githa, son of Abdul Ghani, resident of Belicharana, Nikki Tawi, Jammu-an individual already named in a separate NDPS case registered at Police Station Bakshi Nagar. Investigations unearthed that the accused, a habitual drug dealer, had amassed wealth through narcotics trade and illegally constructed buildings on state land using proceeds of the drug business.
Displaying an uncompromising stance, the Jammu administration has clearly demonstrated that it will not allow drug syndicates to flourish or transform illegally acquired lands into narco-funded real estate. The structures, symbolic of a parallel economy rooted in crime, were razed to restore lawful possession and send a message of deterrence.
SP City South, Mr. Ajay Sharma, reiterated, “We are committed to ensuring that Jammu does not become a breeding ground for drug networks. We will identify, trace, and take stringent action against every asset illegally acquired through the drug trade-whether land, cash, vehicles, or bank accounts. This is a war on drugs, and we’re attacking its financial roots.”
This operation is part of a wider, ongoing campaign by Jammu Police to dismantle the financial empires built by narcotics dealers and criminal gangs. The proactive stance of the police, especially since Mr. Ajay Sharma assumed charge as SP South, has led to an intensified clampdown on drug-related crimes, instilling fear among offenders and reinforcing public trust in law enforcement.
