Rajouri, May 14: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Tuesday visited the border village of Kalsian in the Nowshera sub-division of Rajouri district to assess the damage caused by recent heavy shelling by the Pakistan army. During his visit, the Chief Secretary interacted with affected residents and assured them of all possible support from the administration. He expressed solidarity with the people in this hour of distress and emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring their safety and welfare.
He also visited the Associated Hospital Government Medical College (AHGMC) in Rajouri, where he met with patients, including those injured in the shelling incident. He directed the Principal of GMC to ensure the best possible medical treatment for all patients and reviewed the overall functioning of the institution.
The Chief Secretary also assessed the availability and condition of bunkers in the border areas and instructed the concerned officers to construct new bunkers wherever needed. He stressed the importance of maintaining high-quality standards in all such works to safeguard civilian lives.
Commending the district administration’s effective handling of the situation, Dulloo appreciated the swift and coordinated response to the recent shelling incidents.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, briefed the Chief Secretary on the district’s civil defence preparedness. He also provided updates on the status of all 12 essential services, including Warden Service, Rescue, Casualty, Firefighting, Transport, Survey Committee, Supply Services, Welfare, Headquarters, Communication, Disposal, and Training Services.
The meeting was attended by DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range Tejinder Singh; SSP Rajouri Gaurav Sikarwar; ADC Kotranka Dilmir; ADC Rajouri Chander Prakash; ACR Mohammad Jahangir; ACP Sheraz Chouhan; Deputy Director Employment Mohammad Nawaz; ACD Auqil Naveed; and other senior district and sectoral officers.
During his visit, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo also paid high tributes to Additional District Development Commissioner Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa at a condolence meeting organized by the district administration. Dr. Thapa attained martyrdom during the recent cross-border shelling incident.
Expressing profound grief over the tragic loss, the Chief Secretary said, “Officers must carry forward their responsibilities with the same dedication and sense of duty as exemplified by Dr. Thapa.”
Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma highlighted Dr. Thapa’s invaluable contributions during his tenure as ADDC. He recalled Dr. Thapa’s leadership in key development projects, his people-centric approach, and his unwavering commitment to public welfare.
