Rajouri, January 14: At least six soldiers of a patrol party were injured in Rajouri district on Tuesday morning (January 14) in an accidental mine blast along the Line of Control (LoC).
Sources said that soldiers, all Havildar, were part of a patrolling party near Khamba fort in Makri village of Bhawani sector in Nowshera subdivision of Rajouri district.
At about 11 am during the patrolling reportedly a soldier inadvertently stepped on an abandoned land mine resulting in a blast Six soldiers were injured in the incident and were rescued to Advanced Dressing Station at Nowshera. After initial treatment all the six soldiers, with minor injuries, were referred to Army hospital at Rajouri for further treatment. According to reports the condition of all the soldiers is stable. about the cause of explosion/blast is awaited. The Army has not issued any statement in this connection.
It is pertinent to mention here that as a part of anti-infiltration measures land mines are laid along the Line of Control / fence and many times these mines explode when soldiers inadvertently step over mines abandoned due to rains.
Sources added, the army has initiated investigation into the incident.
In the past, it has been observed that terrorists after crossing over to Indian territory had planted IEDs on the patrolling tracks that had caused fatal and serious injuries to our soldiers.
