Jammu, Jun 02: Deeply concerned over the frequent killings of Hindus in Kashmir valley by the Pak sponsored militants, the Union Minister for Home Department, Amit Shah has convened a high level security meet in New Delhi to deeply deliberate on the spate of target killings in Kashmir and to formulate a new security strategy to put an end to killing of minority community members.
There are reports that Union Home Minister Shah today met National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and discussed the prevailing situation in Kashmir especially the spurt in killing of minority community members and non-J&K officers, who are working there to serve the nation. The report further said that it was decided to convene a high-level review meeting on tomorrow to evolve a fresh strategy to plug the “selective killing cycle in Kashmir” and to prevent mass exodus of migrant Kashmiri Pandits and other minority communities living in Kashmir.
On today, the militants killed a bank manager of Elaqai Dihati Bank at Kulgam. This killing came just a few days after militants shot dead a woman teacher from Samba district of Jammu region, outside her school in Gopalpora, Kulgam, where she was on duty.
Sources revealed that all the top officials related to Jammu & Kashmir security grid including Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh, officers from the CRPF, army and intelligence grid will participate in the meeting, whereas, NSA Doval and MoS Dr Jitendera Singh would also remain present in the meeting. The Lt Governor of J&K LG Manoj Sinha has already reached New Delhi is believed to have briefed Home Minister Shah about the spate of attacks in Kashmir and the motive behind it.
It is being believed that today’s meeting would evolve a strategy that includes fresh plan to deal with the growing attacks on minorities and also new security strategy to deal with the remaining militants in Kashmir keeping in view of forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
The meeting would be held at North Block, which is to be chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and attended by J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Intelligence Bureau Director Arvind Kumar, Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, MHA Special Secretary (Internal Security) VSK Kaumudi and other senior officials of the Jammu & Kashmir, especially of Kashmir division.
There are reports that no such decision would be taken which will make the situation volatile in Kashmir, but an iron-fist policy will be finalised to deal with the militants involved in target killings in Kashmir. The reason behind this is very simple and it would be like that at present the Kashmir is full of tourists and at this point of time, no harsh decision would be taken in the meeting which can create a fear-psychosis among tourists present in the Kashmir or planning to visit Kashmir and to deal such situation a well-thought & well versed plan would be worked out, while keeping in view the upcoming Amarnath Yatra which would start on June 30.
