DGP J&K leads tree plantation drive on World Environment Day

SRINAGAR, JUNE 5: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Jammu and Kashmir Police organized a tree plantation drive at the District Police Lines (DPL) Srinagar, reaffirming its commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development. The plantation drive was led by Director General of Police, J&K, Nalin Prabhat, who planted a sapling and highlighted the importance of collective efforts in protecting and preserving the environment. Joining the initiative were Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, VK Birdi, and DIG Central Kashmir Range, Rajiv Pandey, who also participated in the plantation programme.
SSP Srinagar, GV Sundeep Chakravarthy, along with Zonal SPs and other police officers, attended the event and actively took part in the drive. Speaking on the occasion, DGP Prabhat emphasized that environmental protection is a shared responsibility and called upon all stakeholders to contribute towards creating a greener, cleaner, and healthier future. He underscored the need for sustained efforts to preserve ecological balance, enhance green cover, and promote environmental awareness among the public.
The plantation drive forms part of J&K Police’s broader commitment to supporting environmental conservation initiatives and fostering sustainable practices across the Union Territory. Participants pledged to ensure the proper care and maintenance of the planted saplings and to actively promote environmental stewardship within their respective communities. The programme reflected the commitment of J&K Police towards public welfare beyond law enforcement, highlighting its continued efforts in environmental protection, community engagement, and sustainable development for future generations.
