Poonch, June 1: In a proactive effort to ensure rapid restoration and uninterrupted development, Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Vikas Kundal, conducted a comprehensive visit to Mandi Tehsil today. The visit aimed to inspect ongoing developmental works and assess the on-ground impact of the recent windstorm that affected the region.
Accompanied by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and senior officers from both the District Administration and the Police Department, the Deputy Commissioner undertook an extensive tour of several affected villages and developmental sites.
A key part of the inspection included a review of the Poonch-Mandi Road, a critical connectivity route for the region. He assured the public that repair and restoration work would commence soon following the completion of all necessary codal and administrative formalities. He emphasized that ensuring safe and smooth transportation remains a top priority for the district administration.
During interactions with local residents at multiple stops, Mr. Kundal patiently listened to their concerns and shared details of the steps being taken by the administration to address the damage caused by the windstorm. The officials jointly assessed the extent of infrastructure loss, including damage to public property and essential services like electricity and water supply. He also instructed the concerned departments to submit damage assessment reports promptly and initiate relief and restoration activities without delay. The Deputy Commissioner reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to standing by the affected communities and ensuring that no household is left behind during the recovery phase.
The presence of both the DC and SSP during the visit sent a strong message of administrative solidarity and swift action. Their interaction with locals helped instill a sense of trust and assurance among residents, many of whom expressed appreciation for the timely visit and quick response of the authorities.
This visit underlines the district administration’s dedication to good governance, community outreach, and rapid response in times of crisis, reflecting a balanced approach towards development and disaster management in one of Jammu and Kashmir’s sensitive border regions.
