Rajouri, April 6: In a tragic head-on collision between a car and a motorcycle on the Rajouri-Thanamandi road, two youths lost their lives, while the driver of the car fled the accident site at around 8 PM on Sunday.
Eyewitnesses claimed that the accident occurred due to rash driving on the under-construction road. They reported that the car, bearing registration number JK11E-9686, was coming from the Thanamandi side, while the bike, bearing registration number PB08CJ-8097, was heading toward Dodasan village in Thanamandi tehsil.
According to an eyewitness, the unidentified car driver fled the scene after hitting the motorcycle. The vehicles collided near Fatehpur due to rash driving, and both bike riders were dragged for about 25 meters. They were declared “brought dead” by doctors at the Associated Hospital GMC (AH GMC) Rajouri.
People present at the accident site informed the police and helped shift the injured to AH GMC.
The deceased have been identified as Azhar Hussain Shah (19), son of Mazhir Hussain, and Toyaib Raza, son of Abdul Qayoom, both residents of Saim Samat-Fatehpur.
Police have brought the bodies to AH GMC for medico-legal formalities and have taken cognizance of the matter to initiate further investigation.
