Rajouri, April 1: Three consecutive accidental mine blasts near a forward post along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Krishna Ghati (KG) Sector of the Poonch district in UT of J&K led to an exchange of fire between the Indian and Pakistani armies on Tuesday (April 1).
Regarding this incident, the Army has not released any official statement. However, sources said that either a guide of a terrorist group was in the area to facilitate infiltration or a wild animal had entered the minefield, triggering the blasts under suspicious circumstances.
The Indian Army immediately responded to the suspicious blasts with firing to foil any intrusion attempt by terrorists. The Pakistan Army then opened unprovoked fire on Indian forward posts. The exchange of fire between both armies continued for some time. In a swift and strong retaliation, the Indian Army forced Pakistani guns to fall silent.
No damage to infrastructure or loss of life was reported from the area.
In the wake of an ongoing anti-terror operation in Kathua district, the Indian Army is on the highest level of alert to defeat any nefarious designs of the Pakistan Army along the Line of Control.
According to unconfirmed reports, a group of terrorists sponsored by the Pakistan Army attempted to intrude into the Indian side of the LoC on Tuesday in the area of operation of the Nangi Tekri Battalion (KG).
The Pakistan Army and terrorists opened fire on Indian forward posts to facilitate the intrusion. Still, strong and swift action by alert Indian troops foiled their attempt, and reportedly, 3-5 terrorists or Pakistani soldiers were killed in the action.
However, no official confirmation has been made regarding this.
