Rajouri, Mar 31: In a tragic road mishap in the Sabjian area of Poonch district on Sunday, a 12 year old boy was killed, and five boys were injured-along with six others-when a Tata Sumo vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a gorge.
The deceased has been identified as Mohd Tousif (12), son of Mohd Mushtaq Ahmed, and a resident of Dagrian village in Mandi tehsil of Poonch district.
The injured have been identified as Faizan Ahmed (10), son of Shabir Ahmed; Mohd Hafiz (12), son of Shabir Ahmed Mohd Rafiq (driver); Daoud Ahmed, son of Mohd Ashraf;
Irfan Ahmed, son of Mohd Ibrahim, and Imtiaz Ahmed, son of Mohd Ibrahim
All the injured are residents of Dagrian village and were reportedly on their way to join Eid celebrations.
They were first brought to the Community Health Center in Mandi and, after receiving preliminary treatment, were referred to the Raja Sukhdev Singh District Hospital (RSSDH) in Poonch.
Dr. Nusrat Bhatti, Medical Superintendent of RSSDH Poonch, stated that out of the six injured brought to the district hospital, four are receiving treatment in Poonch while two children have been referred to the Associated Hospital GMC Rajouri for specialized treatment.
The parents of the children shifted to AH GMC Rajouri said they would prefer to have their children referred to SMGHS (a children’s hospital) for better treatment.
After medico-legal formalities, Poonch police have started an investigation to find out the cause of the accident.
Eyewitnesses stated that the accident was caused by the dilapidated condition of the road.
