HARPREET SINGH
Jammu, Mar 08: In a concerted effort to enhance road safety and tackle increasing traffic violations, City North Jammu Police conducted a major crackdown today, seizing and challenging 85 vehicles in a single day. The operation, supervised by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Mr. Joginder Singh, and Superintendent of Police (City North) Jammu, Mr. Vivek Shekhar-JKPS, was aimed at ensuring strict enforcement of traffic laws in the region.
The drive, which spanned key locations across the City North Jammu area, was led by SPDO City North, Mr. Vikram Bhau-JKPS, along with his team, including the SHO of P/S Bus Stand, P/S Pacca Danga, P/S City, and P/S Peer Mitha, and officers from various Police Posts. It was part of a broader initiative to curb traffic violations and improve road safety in the city. The operation focused on various traffic offenses, such as vehicles without number plates, those with pressure horns, modified vehicles, and drivers lacking valid documentation. Furthermore, strict action was taken against individuals found driving under the influence of alcohol, with five such violators being apprehended.
A total of 45 vehicles were seized, and 40 vehicles were issued challans for a range of violations, including the use of illegal pressure horns and unauthorized music systems. In a decisive move, 18 pressure horns and 16 modified music systems were removed from vehicles during the drive. This swift and efficient action was aimed at not only penalizing the violators but also creating a deterrent effect, ensuring that residents and commuters adhere to traffic norms.
SSP Jammu, Mr. Joginder Singh, and SP City North, Mr. Vivek Shekhar, were instrumental of the operation, ensuring that all protocols were followed and maintaining law and order during the crackdown. Their efforts were widely appreciated by the public, with many praising the police for their proactive approach in tackling traffic violations, which have long been a concern in the region.
The primary focus of this drive was not just to enforce the law but to raise awareness among the public about the importance of road safety. By removing pressure horns and modified sound systems, the police also aimed to reduce noise pollution, which is a growing concern in urban areas.
Moving forward, City North Jammu Police plan to conduct daily drives to ensure continuous monitoring and enforcement of traffic regulations. These efforts are expected to bring about a significant reduction in road accidents and ensure safer roads for all commuters in the area.
This proactive stance is expected to contribute to a long-term shift in traffic discipline, with violators facing swift legal consequences. The drive serves as a clear reminder that the police are committed to maintaining order and safeguarding the wellbeing of the people.
