POONCH : Acting on specific information, a special naka was established at New Jabba Bridge, Mendhar. During checking and frisking, one individual was intercepted. Upon his personal search, approximately 10 grams of heroin (chitta)-like substance was recovered from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Waseem Ahmed, son of Mohd Maqsood, resident of Goladh, Tehsil Mendhar. He was immediately taken into custody, and a case FIR No. 11/2025 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Mendhar. Further investigation is underway. It is pertinent to mention that the accused is a habitual offender involved in drug peddling and has been supplying narcotics to local youth in the Jabba, Hakeem Morh, and Sangala Chowk areas. The police are actively investigating the forward and backward linkages, and more arrests are likely in the coming days.
