Rajouri, January 24: Government decision to segregate families of Badhal victims, their high-risk contacts, families of close relatives, neighbours in observation centres in Rajouri has brought a sigh of relief and has lessons the terror among the people as no new case has been reported on Friday.
Pertinently, more than 300 men, women, adolescent girls, children have been shifted to Nursing College and Boys higher secondary school where the district administration with the help of police and health departments has made elaborate efforts to provide them instant and better preventive care.
Meanwhile, annoyed over many loopholes in administrative set of UT of J&K (dual power system) and bureaucratic apathy to pass the buck on the table of others, MLA Budhal, MLA Thanamandi and LA Rajouri held a press conference and alleged discrimination with poor people of Rajouri-Poonch.
They demanded an in depth inquiry into the circumstances that denied the air ambulance for three sisters from GMCH Jammu to Chandigarh on Thursday even though the trio was referred to PGI Chandigarh after clearance from PGI authorities on the request of MLA Budhal, Javed Iqbal Choudhary.
They also demanded inquiry against the person (s), whether on any position, who denied air ambulance and put the lives of these girls at high risk, because most of the patients (mostly children) from Badhal admitted in SMGS/GMC in Jammu.
“How much concerned is the UT Government about the healthcare of people of Rajouri Poonch districts is evident from the fact that Associated Hospital GMC Rajouri is functioning with 38% of the sanctioned staff (doctors & paramedics) while it is catering more than 14 lakh population from two districts,” said MLAs.
They also alleged non-availability of life saving drugs and MBBS doctors in many health institutions in the district.
They demanded immediate availability of a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) facility and required doctors/paramedics in Associated Hospital GMC (AH GMC) Rajouri.
Critically, Choudhary accused the Principal, GMC Jammu of causing unnecessary delays in referring the ill siblings to PGI Chandigarh,
All the MLAs said that due to the dual power system personal conflicts and ‘ego clashes’ are endangering the lives of innocent people.
All the three MLAs expressed their gratitude to the Principal GMC, doctors at AHGMC, CMO Rajouri and his entire team of doctors/paramedics who have been serving the patients 24X7 without their personal health care.
All the MLAs have praised the efforts of civil administration, police and other concerned departments for their selfless services in this hour of need and providing succour to suffering people.
“Had there been single window administration, the lives of innocent children would have been saved by airlifting them to PGI or AIIMS for better treatment and management like Aijaz who is recovering in PGI in Chandigarh,” said MLAs.
They demanded immediate deployment of air ambulance at Rajouri for immediate shifting of critical patients to hospital out of UT because we are facing a grave situation where we have lost 17 lives to unidentified illness within 47 days.
“For the last three days I have knocked at the door of every officer, whether it is Central, state or LG administration, for air lifting of three sisters to PGI. But every officer passed buck to other’s shoulders and no action” said MLA Budhal Javed Iqbal.
MLA Thanamandi, Muzaffar Iqbal Khan; MLA Rajouri, Iftkhar Ahmed has extended their full support to MLA Budhal Javed Iqbal Choudhary in his fight for the safety and health of people of Badhal and even will sit in protest along with him.
