Samba Police seizes assets worth Lakhs from drug kingpin in Vijaypur

Samba, Oct 07: In a decisive move against drug trafficking, Samba Police has successfully executed an asset attachment operation, resulting in the seizure of a luxury vehicle valued at approximately ?8 lakhs. The vehicle, a Swift car with registration number JK08P-1912, belongs to notorious drug kingpin Mohd Aslam, son of Teg Ali, a resident of Mathar Chak in Tehsil Hirangar, Kathua.
Under the leadership of Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq, Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Vijaypur, and with the overarching supervision of SSP Samba Vinay Sharma, this operation falls under Sections 68 A.2 (c) & E, read with Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985. These provisions empower law enforcement to attach the properties of individuals involved in drug-related crimes.
Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Vijaypur, has established himself as a formidable force in the fight against drug trafficking in his jurisdiction. With an impressive track record of dismantling drug-peddling networks, he has played a pivotal role in enhancing the safety and well-being of the community.
Currently, Mohd Aslam is in judicial custody, facing serious charges outlined in FIR No. 99/2024 under Sections 8, 21, 22, 27-A, and 60 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Vijaypur. His criminal record is extensive, with multiple cases registered against him, including:- 1) FIR No. 99/2024 U/S 8/21/22/27-A/60 NDPS Act, Vijaypur; 2) FIR No. 73/2023 U/S 58/21/22/27-A/29 NDPS Act, Police Station Pouni, Reasi; 3) FIR No. 173/2022 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act, Vijaypur; 4) FIR No. 165/2022 U/S 21(6)/25 NDPS Act, STF Wing Punjab; 5) FIR No. 170/2021 U/S 21/29 NDPS Act, Police Station Shahpur Kandi, Punjab; and 6) FIR No. 04/2023 U/S 8/21/25/29/60 NDPS Act, NCB Jammu.
The seized vehicle was identified as illegally acquired property through a thorough investigation conducted in collaboration with the transport department.
Preliminary findings indicate that the vehicle was purchased with funds obtained from illicit drug trafficking activities.
