DGP, GOC White Knight Corps & Div Com Jammu reviewed security & polling preparedness

Rajouri, May 22: In two separate meetings, first jointly chaired by DGP and GOC White Knight Corps and second by Divisional Commissioner Jammu held in Poonch, the top brass reviewed operational preparedness & security situation of border districts of Poonch & Rajouri and the preparedness for the polling being held on May 25 under the 6th phase of Lok Sabha General Elections respectively.
DGP, RR Swain and General Officer Commanding (GOC) White Knight Corps, Lt Gen Navin Sachdeva along with ADGP (law and order), Vijay Kumar; ADGP Jammu, Anand Jain on Wednesday reviewed operational preparedness and security situation in both the border districts.
They emphasised the importance of maintaining a high-level of vigilance to effectively address any potential security challenges.
Poonch & Rajouri are part of the 3-Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha constituency & the polling for which will be held on May 25.
It is pertinent to mention here that during last 2 years Rajouri & Poonch district have witnessed several high-profile terror attacks, particularly against the armed forces and the recent was on Air Force Convoy on May 4 in Poonch district in which an Air Warrior attained martyrdom.
Comprehensive discussions were held in the high-security review meeting to synergise ongoing operations and review preparations in anticipation of forthcoming events.
The focus was on enhancing coordination and ensuring robust security measures across the region.
The meeting underscored the commitment of the security forces to maintaining peace and stability in the region, ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
In the second meeting Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar reviewed the preparedness for the polling for Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat scheduled for May 25
under the 6th phase of Lok Sabha General Elections.
Ramesh Kumar reviewed the arrangements for dispatching of poll parties, setting up of collection centres, provision of vehicles and other logistics for seamless conduct of polling.
He directed the officers to ensure all preparations are made well in advance & called for meticulous planning and coordination among the departments involved in the electoral process.
He also conducted on-spot inspection of the strong room, election cell, and a sample polling booth to assess the ground-level preparedness and instructed concerned officials to ensure all the necessary arrangements at the polling stations.
Ramesh Kumar also reviewed the Law and Order situation and security arrangements in the district.
