J&K Shooters bring recognition to the UT Internationally: S.S. Sodhi

Jammu, Feb 25: Today, the Jammu Kashmir Rifle Association convened a meeting with all members, coaches, and heads of various committees, to commend the dedication and achievements of J&K shooters at both national and international platforms.
All members took immense pleasure in recognizing the outstanding performances of their shooters across different events and tournaments, from national to international levels.
Notably, Asian Medallist Aneesha Sharma’s remarkable bronze medal win in the Asian Games was recognized as a testament to J&K shooters’ prowess and dedication. The other notable ace shooters also appreciated were: Vishal Sharma, Top Shooter – J&K (male), Shimani Choudhary, National Medallist, and Raveena Jangid, Top Shooter, J&K (female).
Sh. S.S. Sodhi highlighted the upcoming shooting tournaments and expressed hope for increased participation in the coming months. Furthermore, he also expressed gratitude to hon’ble PM Modi and Lt. Governor Sh.Manoj Sinha for providing various significant platforms encouraging sporting talent among both rural and urban sectors.
Sh. Kuldeep Singh Jamwal, Chairman JKRA, also addressed the gathering, extending thanks to all members and congratulating the shooters for their achievements. He specifically appreciated and congratulated Sh. S.S. Sodhi and his team for their outstanding achievements in shooting and for running the association with great concern, dedication, and experience.
Sh.. Sharat Chander, CEO of JKRA, emphasized the full-year curriculum and mentioned the incorporation of new technologies available in shooting tournaments. He expressed his delight at the progress observed in shooting sports.
Sh. T.S. Tony, an executive member, announced the opening of a latest shooting range in Suchetgarh to facilitate the participation of children from the area in national and international games. He pledged financial aid for the new range and expressed satisfaction with the association’s dedication.
Sh. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Vice President, highlighted the importance of sending more shooters to Khelo India and other tournaments to provide exposure, emphasizing that participation itself builds confidence regardless of the outcome.
Sh. Paramajit Singh, Vice President of Srinagar, extended an invitation to Srinagar to initiate a significant event in district Baramulla, focusing on collaborating with Kashmiri players. He commended the leadership of Mr. S. S. Sodhi, President of JKRA.
Sh. Arun Mansotra, Treasurer, presented the financial budgeting and stressed the association’s need for funds. He proposed opening memberships to sports-loving businesses and others to support players and shooters with limited resources. He also appealed to the sports council and youth services for regular support and appreciated the members’ contributions.
Sh. Rajesh Virdi, Chairman of the Technical Committee, addressed various technical issues, including range facilities and future challenges.
Further, Sh.Ashok Kumar (Joint Director), Sh.Vishal Mehra (Technical Coach), Sh.Tarun Dev Singh (Technical Coach), Sh.Aman Singh (ISSF Coach) were also present on the occasion and appreciated for their exceptional talent and commitment.
Emphasizing the importance of nurturing talent, Sh. Sodhi advised all members of JKRA to dedicate themselves to identifying and supporting talented children in both rural and urban areas, ensuring they benefit from the available facilities in the Jammu Kashmir UT.
Gratitude was extended by Sh. S.S.Sodhi and his team to the government, media, police department, Indian Army, and other organizations for their unwavering support and assistance in providing facilities and guidance to the shooters due to which Jammu Kashmir has secured its place on the global sporting map.
