Chowki Choura , Feb 10: Cross Swords Gunners, under the aegis of White Knight Corps, in collaboration with the Sub-Divisional Administration, Chowki Choura, organised a free medical camp at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Gangal near Chowki Choura in Akhnoor on February 10.
The initiative was aimed at enhancing access to healthcare facilities in remote and hilly areas. The camp witnessed an enthusiastic response from the local population, with over 500 residents availing medical services.
The medical camp offered a wide range of services including general health check-ups, specialist consultations by doctors from J&K Health Services, free distribution of medicines, basic diagnostic tests, and awareness sessions on preventive healthcare. Army medical teams, supported by mobile medical units, provided treatment for common ailments as well as chronic diseases, ensuring timely care for underserved sections of society, including Bakerwal communities and ex-servicemen.
Local dignitaries, including Sub-Divisional Magistrate Chowki Choura Ankush Hans, Tehsildar Pramod, and representatives of Panchayat Gangal, appreciated the Indian Army for its consistent efforts towards civilian welfare. Speaking on the occasion, the SDM stated that such collaborations reflect the spirit of “Nation First” and strengthen the bond between the Armed Forces and the civil administration, particularly in difficult terrains.
The event is part of the Indian Army’s ongoing ‘Sadbhavna’ (Goodwill) initiatives, which focus on public health, education, and infrastructure development in Jammu and Kashmir. Similar medical camps are planned in other remote panchayats of the region in the coming days.
