Brave Officer Mohan Lal Sharma to Receive Shaurya Chakra and Gallantry Medal

Four J&K Police Officers Receive Shaurya Chakra on 75th Republic Day

Jammu, Jan 25: On the significant occasion of the 75th Republic Day, Deputy Superintendent of Police (SDPO-Akhnoor) Mohan Lal Sharma from the Jammu and Kashmir Police is set to be honoured with the prestigious Shaurya Chakra and a Gallantry Medal for his extraordinary bravery and service.
In a notable recognition of gallantry, four Jammu and Kashmir Police officers have also been honoured with the prestigious Shaurya Chakra by the Ministry of Defence, Government of India.
The announcement of this esteemed award was made from the Rashtrapati Bhavan, marking a proud moment for the entire nation.
Mohan Lal Sharma, a member of the 2011 batch of JKPS, currently serving as SDPO in Akhnoor, Jammu district, has displayed remarkable courage, earning him national recognition. President Draupadi Murmu is slated to confer upon him the highest honour of bravery, the Shaurya Chakra, in acknowledgment of his unwavering commitment and valour, particularly in encounters with terrorists.
Known for his popularity in Akhnoor, Mohan Lal Sharma has played a pivotal role in combating crime in the region. His one-year tenure in Akhnoor has earned him love and appreciation from the local residents. Prior to his assignment in Akhnoor, Sharma has diligently served in Ramban, Udhampur, Reasi, Poonch, Nagrota, and the Special Operations Group (SOG) in Srinagar for two years. His consistent dedication and integrity in every posting have marked him as an exemplary police officer.
Apart from the Shaurya Chakra, SDPO Mohan Lal Sharma will also receive the Gallantry Medal on the 75th Republic Day. This announcement was officially made by the Ministry of Home Affairs, recognizing his exceptional service and bravery. Alongside Sharma, the Central Home Ministry has bestowed Shaurya Chakra awards upon Sub Inspector Feroz Ahmad Dar, Assistant Sub Inspector Amit Raina, and Constable Varun Singh, all serving in the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also extended congratulations to these officers via a tweet.
As per a statement from Rashtrapati Bhavan, the distinguished awardees include Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Mohan Sharma, Sub Inspector Feroz Ahmed Dar, Assistant Sub Inspector Amit Raina, and Constable Varun Singh.
Director General of Police (DGP) R.R Swain lauded these officers for setting an exemplary standard of valour and courage, bringing laurels to the entire J&K Police force. In a special message, the DGP commended these Shaurya Chakra awardees for their unparalleled courage and devotion to duty.
Highlighting the significant feat of these Special Operation Group Srinagar (Cargo) officers, the DGP emphasized that this prestigious honour is a testament to their exceptional bravery in the face of adversity, showcasing their unwavering dedication to upholding the principles of duty and honour for the sovereignty and integrity of the nation.
