Cross border narcotics smuggling: SFs recovered 8.960 Kgms narcotics in Rajouri

Rajouri, July 28: District Police Rajouri with the help of Army and BSF has foiled a major attempt of cross border narcotics attempt and on Friday have seized a consignment of about 9 Kgms of Narcotics substance near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Nowshera sub-district.
The joint search operation was carried out by J&K Police, Indian Army, and BSF along LoC in Jhnagar area, under the Area of Operation of Jhangar Battalion, after specific intelligence inputs.
“There was some specific intelligence input on the basis of which an operation was launched in the LoC area of Jhangar in the Nowshera sector,” said SSP, Amritpal Singh, IPS.
Police carried out this operation along with the army unit of the area and BSF during which the area was cordoned and extensive searches were conducted, he added.
SSP, Amritpal further said that during the extensive search, Security Forces recovered five packets of Narcotics weighing 8.960 Kgms, and the consignment of narcotics was seized and taken into possession for further investigation
In this connection, police have registered a case under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act (FIR No. 171/2023) at Nowshera police station and further investigation is ongoing.
“Further investigation and necessary legal formalities into the matter are going on. Recovery of such huge quantity of narcotics along LoC indicates towards possible cross LoC smuggling attempt which however has been foiled,” said SSP, Amritpal Singh.
