Dheeraj Gupta cancels transfers of Forest department

Jammu, Jul 06: In an unusual move, the Administrative Department of Forest department has taken a bold decision to cancel all the transfers made by the Conservator of Forests and the concerned Divisional Forest Officers made on or after 01-05-2023.
The transfers were made by Conservators of the Forest department and the concerned Divisional Forest Officers as per their convenience or to adjust their men in the right place by suppressing several things but the case of the transfers in violations of the standing instructions of the Government issued vide Government order No 948-JK(GAD) of 2020 dated 15-10-2020. The 211 transfers were made by eight different Divisional Forest Officers and three Conservators of Forests in 35 different orders.
The Principal Secretary to Government, Department of Forests, Ecology & Environment Dheeraj Gupta IAS has taken very tough stand after some reports published in newspaper about the illegal felling. Prior to this, the Principal Secretary to Government, Department of Forests, Ecology & Environment Dheeraj Gupta IAS has ordered an credible enquiry to investigate the illegal felling deeply and after that he has ordered to cancel all the transfers made on or after 01-05-2023.
The office of Chief Conservator of Forests Jammu has issued an order vide its office No CCF/J/NG/Estt/852-64 dated 06-07-2023 with reference to PCCF letter no PCCF,NG>Estt/1463-64 dated 03-07-2023 has conveyed the decision of the meeting held under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary to Government, Department of Forests, Ecology & Environment Dheeraj Gupta IAS to cancel all the transfers made on or after 01-05-2023.
The order clearly says ‘As per the instructions of Administrative Department conveyed vide No PCCF/NG/Estt/1463-64 dated 03-07-2023, the following transfer orders issued in violation of Government Order No 948-JK(GAD) of 2020 dated 15-10-202 by Conservators of Forests/Divisional Forest officers on or after 01-05-2023shall be deemed to have been cancelled ab-initio.
The order further clarifies that ‘All the officials are directed to report back to their original olaces of postings with immediate effect.’ The order was signed by BM Sharma, Chief Conservator of Forests Jammu.
