Rajouri, November 21: Within 3 days Nowshera police in Rajouri district under the overall supervision of SSP, Mohammad Aslam have cracked the brutal blind murder of Vishal Kumar, a labourer from Bihar state, in Nowshera town on the intervening night of November 18 & 19.
The accused, arrested in this blind, brutal murder, namely Satyendra Mahato, is also a resident of Bihar state and had a suspicion that the deceased had illicit relations with his wife.
In the morning hours on November 19, some passersby spotted the body of the deceased lying in the drain in ward No.2 of Nowshera town and informed the police.
Later the police identified the deceased as Vishal Kumar s/o Balister Mahato resident of Kasdora Bangra in Siwan district of Bihar state and presently working as a labourer in Nowshera town.
The body with the damaged face by a sledgehammer was taken into possession by the Nowshera police, a murder case was registered and the police started further investigation.
“The scene of the crime was immediately preserved and the forensic team was called for examination and collection of evidence. The weapon of offence, a hammer, was recovered from the nearby wild growth and other material evidences were also lifted from the spot through the FSL team,” said SSP.
After medico-legal formalities and post-mortem, the police handed over the body to legal heirs for his last rites.
Nowshera police team headed by SHO Rajesh Jasrotia & assisted by sub-inspectors Arun Singh, Manish Singh, & Vishal Kumar (all probationers), under the supervision of Tussif Ahmed, SDPO, Nowshera, during investigation rounded up about a dozen suspects for questioning.
“These suspects were found in contact with the deceased before his murder through CCTV cameras installed at multiple locations in Nowshera town. During questioning the police zeroed in on one suspect, namely Satyendra Mahato s/o Lagan Mahato resident of Belsand in Gopalganj district of Bihar state District Gopalganj, Bihar, who had committed this heinous crime,” said SSP.
“The accused has admitted his commission of a crime and disclosed having a suspicion that the deceased had illicit relations with his wife,” added SSP.
The accused also admitted having committed the murder by using a hammer as a weapon of offence.
The police team has also recovered the mobile phone of the deceased on confessional disclosure of the accused.
