Jammu, Nov 14: The Anti Corruption Bureau arrested Tehsildar Jammu City South Bahu Rohit Sharma for taking bribe of Rs 50 thousand. He was caught in his office located in Trikuta Nagar.
It is alleged that Rohit Sharma had demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a person in lieu of issuing of Farad of the land. After apprehending Tehsildar Rohit Sharma, the ACB not only raided his office but also raided at his house and collected evidence from there. According to the information received from ACB, a person living in RS Pura had bought land in City South. Now when he went to the Tehsildar to transfer this land in his name, the Tehsildar asked him for a bribe of one lakh rupees. A deal was made to give 50 thousand rupees between them. In the meantime, the person who bought the land approached the ACB and lodged a complaint demanding bribe from him. After this, around six o’clock on Monday evening, the ACB sent the complainant to Tehsildar South, carrying Rs 50 thousand as bribe money. As soon as the Tehsildar was given the bribe amount, Sunny Gupta, DSP of ACB, who was already there, Inspector Jitendra Rana entered the Tehsildar’s office and caught him with the bribe amount. The ACB carried out this action in the presence of independent witnesses.
After that the team also took him to the Bypass Road. After that his house located in Shakti Nagar was also raided. There are unconfirmed reports that many documents have been recovered from his house.
It is pertinent to mention that during his service period as Tehsildar Bahu, he retrieved more than 1500 kanal state land from the encroachers by overthrowing the encroachers and has taken the lead in the entire department. Several times, he has played on his life to evacuate the state land from the encroachers and goons.
