Rajouri, Sept 27: Security has been beefed up in Rajouri Township ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s maiden visit after the abrogation of Article 370.
Ahead of probable Union Home Minister’s visit to Rajouri district scheduled on October 4, Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh along with Additional DGP Security, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu; ADGP, Jammu Mukesh Singh and other senior officers on Tuesday visited Rajouri to review the security arrangements.
In a security meeting, a detailed threadbare discussion was held on security arrangements for Amit Shah’s visit, including the venue of the rally (New Bus Stand ), spots for parking for the vehicles, including distance from the venue, spots for the first checking of the people, deployment of personnel from different forces (additional forces demanded for the security arrangements) etc.
The meeting was attended by ADGP, Security; ADGP, Jammu; DIG, Rajouri-Poonch Police Range, Dr.Haseeb Mughal, SSP Rajouri, Mohd Aslam; DC Poonch; senior police officers of Rajouri/Poonch districts; senior officers/representatives of Central/ State intelligence agencies, BSF etc.
DGP, Dilbag Singh asked the officers for better synergy among different agencies and forces being deployed for the security of Home Minister, Amit Shah.
He also advised the officers to be alert on the activities of anti-national elements who always try to find an opportunity to disturb the peaceful atmosphere.
The diversion of public transport to alternate routes was also discussed so that common commuters do not suffer due to security reasons.
DIG, Dr. Haseeb Mughal, and SSP, Mohd Aslam briefed the DGP about the necessary security arrangements made in connection with Home Minister’s visit.
Ahead of Home Minister’s visit, Security Forces have launched operations in several areas in both the districts against the anti-social, anti-national elements.
“Under security measures ahead of scheduled Home Minister’s visit, over ground workers (OGWs), miscreants, and surrendered militants have been directed to report to concerned police stations in both the districts. Many among them can be detained” said DIG Dr. Haseeb Mughal, IPS.
The police and Security Forces have already started frisking the vehicles & people at mobile vehicle checking points (MVCPs) established ahead of Home minister’s visit.
Reliable sources said that no official confirmation about the visit of the Home Minister has been made till Tuesday. However, Ravinder Raina, BJP State President, and other senior BJP leaders have been holding meetings in both the districts and motivating the people to join Home Minister’s rally at Rajouri on 4 October, which was earlier scheduled for 1st October.
