Massive protest held against doctor/staff and district administration

Rajouri, August 7: A massive protest demonstration was held at Rajouri and the protesters blocked the Jammu-Poonch highway near Sailani Bridge against the doctors/staff of Associated Hospital & Government Medical College (AH&GMC) alleging negligence in the alleged death of a woman after giving birth to a boy in a normal delivery
Protesters also raised slogans against the district administration for not taking action against the doctors who, according to protesters, instead of attending patients in the hospital are focusing more on their private practices.
Usha Devi w/o Raju Sharma, a labourer by profession, was admitted in the AH&GMC last night and she gave birth to a son in a normal delivery, said the protesters including Dalfi Sudan, advocate and Sunil Heer, who led the protesters.
Immediately after normal delivery, the staff demanded 2 units of blood, which was provided immediately, added Dalfi.
But unfortunately, due to the negligence of the staff, Usha died, reportedly due to excess loss of blood, alleged the protesters.
In the morning, family members, relatives and social activists led by Sanjeev Mangoo (Sarpanch) and Kewal Krishan( president Guru Ravi Dass Sabha) & others kept the body outside the police station and staged a protest against the doctor and district administration.
As no senior officer, including civil and police, turned up to listen to their demands, protesters took the body to Sailani Bridge and blocked the Jammu-Poonch highway for about 2 hours.
Additional SP Vivek Shekhar along with the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sachin Dev Singh rushed to the spot.
The protesters were demanding job for Raju Sharma, FIR against the doctor concerned, and a magisterial probe.
“After the assurance of magisterial probe and action against the erring hospital staff, the protest was withdrawn. As no written assurance was given by the Additional SP & ADC, the concerned Sarpanch (Sanjeev Mangu) has taken the responsibility to pursue the case” said Sunil Heer.
Despite repeated attempts, ADC didn’t respond to the official version about Magistr into this incident.
