Rajouri, July 21: A middle-aged man, namely Amjad Iqbal died after a ‘kachaa’ house of one Mir Hussain collapsed in the evening of Thursday in Muku village in the Kotranka sub-district in Rajouri district.
Two other persons were also injured in the incident and have been identified as Mohd Maroof (28) s/o Akshar Hussain and Mohd Rafiq (18) s/o Alam Din.
Both the injured were shifted to Associated Hospital & Government Medical College (AH&GMC) at Rajouri where the condition of Mohd Maroof is said to be critical.
Sources said the house collapsed due to continuous heavy showers in the area. Sources added Amjad Iqbal s/o Abdul Gafoor died on the spot.
“Immediately after the information of house collapse was received, two ambulances were rushed to the village. Both the injured were shifted to AH&GMC for specialised treatment,” said Dr. Iqbal Malik, Block Medical Officer (BMO), Kotranka.
On Wednesday a minor, namely Mohd Yasar s/o Mohd Farooq resident of the Bhanghai village in Thanamandi tehsil died on the spot when he came under a landslide that occurred due to incessant rains in the area.
As the boy belonged to a poor family, the inhabitants of the area appealed to provide financial assistance to the family, which was assured by Sahil Ali Shah, tehsildar after completion of the legal formalities.
Meanwhile, on Thursday the building of the high school at Kalka Mathyani in Kalakot tehsil in Rajouri district was severely damaged due to heavy rains followed by thunderstorms.
Ashok Sharma, district president (rural) JKNC has appealed to the District Administration & Chief Education Officer Rajouri to take necessary/immediate action in this matter so that the students may not suffer in the coming days.
