Villagers want a park on controversial land!
- The sitting SDM Jammu North has taken the initiative to resolve this long pending complaint and since 2018 no one has considered this complaint seriously.
- Anyone who has encroached the land will not be spared at any cost moreover the revenue officers who would be found involved be taken to task.

Jammu, Jul 20: The Sub Divisional Magistrate Jammu North Udham Dass Sharma today paid a personal visit to Kangrail where the reports of encroachment were coming, because two days earlier and said that he would not allow the encroachment anywhere.
During his visit to the Kangrail to access the status of the land in question, the Sub Divisional Magistrate Jammu North said that it would be better if people may decide about the water bodies and the common land, which can be used for the welfare of the villagers. After reaching on the spot, he said that people of the locality are very cooperative and responsible. He said that his first priority would be to get the water bodies vacated from the illegal occupation of the people.
He said that in past these water bodies were managed and monitored by the local people but later this tradition has been faded away with the passage of time and which has given a chance to people to encroach the water bodies but now, it is priority of the administration to get the illegal encroached water bodies vacated from the people.
While mentioning about the illegal occupied water bodies, the visiting SDM said that those who have dumped the material over the land in question has agreed to vacate the land and so there is no problem here about the encroachment. He said that not only this water-body would be vacated from the illegal occupation but entire water-bodies would be vacated from the encroachers if anywhere it would be found.
Whereas the SDM said that in past the government has provided the funds in regard to develop the said water body but due to some arrogant approach of the encroachers the same fund has not been used for the purpose and the water body remained undeveloped. But on the other hand assured that the water bodies would be developed very soon.
The concerned Sarpanch suggested to construct the park for the people and a ground so that youth may have some physical exercise. The villagers demanded that the said land should be used for public purpose as the land belongs to the entire village and it is property of villagers at any cost.
It is pertinent to mention that on July 18, the Sub Divisional Magistrate Jammu North has rejected the report submitted by the Tehsildar Bhalwal on the ground that he is personally not satisfied with the report as there is much variation in the record and the material mentioned in report. He then assured to have a personal visit to get the first hand information in this regard.
It would be appropriate to mention that some people have approached the Divisional Commissioner Jammu that M/S Maha Laxmi Brick Kilin Dayaran Kangrial and others have encroached the land falling under Khasra No 177 measuring 28 kanals 12 marlas situated at Kangrail including a water body land ‘Mufeed-e-Aam Chhapri’ and the same should be demarcated and vacated from the land grabbers who have grabbed the land. The office of Divisional Commissioner Jammu has asked the office of Deputy Commissioner Jammu to take immediate action in this regard. The Divisional Commissioner office letter No 502/Misc/Jmu/22/299 dated 24-05-2022 says as ‘In this regard, I am directed to request you to kindly take appropriate action in the matter after getting the matter enquired by the Sub Divisional Magistrate Jammu North and an action taken report be furnished to this office.’ The letter was signed by Dr Pritam Lal JKAS Assistant Commissioner (Central) with Divisional Commissioner Jammu along with four pages. The Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu (Law & Order) Minga Sherpa IAS vide his office No DCJ/Comp-Div Com/2022-23/157 dated 09-06-2022 shot a letter to Sub Divisional Magistrate Jammu North with the direction to get the matter inquired within one week’s time positively. The Sub Divisional Magistrate Jammu North without wasting the time referred the matter to Tehsildar Bhalwal vide his office No SDM/JN/Misc/22-23/356 dated 10-06-2022 and asked him to submit report within seven days.
