Rajouri, Apr 5: A middle school teacher in the Kotranka sub-district in Rajouri district has been placed under suspension, attached with the office of Additional DC (Kotranka and an inquiry has been initiated against him for allegedly beating harshly( corporal punishment) two minor girls.
On the other hand, Angrez Singh @ Baba, father of one among them 4-year- old girl, in a viral video on Facebook/WhatsApp groups alleged that the said teacher, namely Nisar Ahmed for the last few days was objecting/ harassing my daughter for a Bindi on her forehead.
“Several times my daughter complained about teacher Nisar for asking her why you wore Bindi (Tika). Are you married? She is just four years old and even doesn’t know the meaning of Bindi or Sindoor” said Angrez Singh.
As the video goes viral on the social media platforms, Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Kotranka vide his office order No. ZEO/K/24dt 5/4/2022 immediately sought an explanation from Nisar Ahmed teacher regarding the alleged beating of the girls and asked to remain present in the school during the inquiry on April 6.
ZEO has also directed said teacher to report to the in-charge government primary school at Samote till the pending inquiry.
Meanwhile, considering the sensitivity of the allegation alleged by Angrez Singh in the viral video and the ban imposed on corporal punishment in the schools reportedly by the Apex Court, Sachin Dev Singh, Additional DC (Rajouri ) on the direction of Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal, has suspended Nisar Ahmed teacher.
Vide DC office order No.DCR/2021-22/PA/03-07 dt 5/4/2022, the teacher has been attached with the office of Additional DC (Kotranka).
“Additional DC, Kotranka is hereby appointed as inquiry officer to enquire into the incident specifically into the points..(a) whether it is true that the child was beaten (b) the specific reason for beating the child (c) the material used for beating the child (d) whether this was the first child beaten by the teacher or earlier other students were also beaten (e) place of posting of Nisar Ahmed, and tenure of posting in the particular school and (f) name of other teachers posted in the school and present at the time of the incident,” ADC order reads.
Hurting a child amounts to a crime and can make a person liable for punishment under sections 323, 325, 352& 506 of IPC and section 23 of the JJ Act 2000 that states whoever has charge of the child, assaults a child, is punishable with imprisonment which may extend to 6 months or fine or both.
