Rajouri, Mar 25: Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) of Peeri in Rajouri district has stopped the salaries of three in-charge teachers of mid-day-meal (MDM) program for their lackadaisical attitude towards non-lifting and non-distribution of dry rice mead day meal among the students.
After several complaints from the parents and students regarding the non-distribution of MDM (dry Rice) for the period October 2021 to February 2022, ZEO Peeri has directed all the heads of the institutions under Peeri zone to complete the process within two days.
“All the heads of the institutions are hereby instructed to complete the distribution process within two days positively. Also complete the record related to MDM, including cash book, daily consumption register, MDM invoice, Rice distribution register, with authentication of PRI/VLEC members and parents” ZEO order reads issued on Friday.
Meanwhile, during a surprise inspection of middle school at Gala Tarkashi, ZEO found MDM in-charge, Mohd Azam on unauthorised absence from duty.
During further inspection of the MDM record, ZEO found that neither Mohd Azam has distributed MDM properly nor he had maintained a proper record of the scheme.
The ZEO has sought an explanation from the Mohd Azam on or before March 28.
Even Azam didn’t bother to inform his presence in the institution telephonically despite he was already directed by the ZEO to do so.
“Annual composite grants amounting to Rs 50,000/- has not utilised till date which shows your non-seriousness towards your duties” reads ZEO order (ZEO/P/1455-66 dt 25/3/2022) issued on Friday.
“You are directed to explain your position on or before March 28 otherwise it will be presumed that you have nothing in your defence and action shall be taken as required under rules. Your salary for the month of March kept with held till further order” ZEOs order further reads.
Similarly, the ZEO Peeri has withheld the salaries (for the month of March) of two teachers posted in Middle school at Toond for not lifting and non-distribution of dry rice meals among the students from October 2021 to February 2022 (except 7 days in the month of February).
Nazir Hussain and Khadam Hussain teachers have been asked to explain their position before March 28 along with register and other records related to the scheme, said ZEO order (No.ZEO/P/1462-64) issued on Friday.
