Rajouri, Oct 17: For the last seven days the terrorists, reportedly 5-7 in number, managing to survive in the forests which could be possible either with the help of local support (which has the least possibility), they are highly trained in jungle warfare, or reportedly guided by Pakistani commandos.
As per reports Security Forces now heading slowly and after clearing all the obstacles to reach their target (terrorists) holed up in a particular area in the forest at Nar Khas in Bhata Dhurian general area in Mendhar.
No major success was reported on Sunday on the 7th day of Counter Terrorist Operations (CTOs) launched in Rajouri & Poonch districts to eliminate the hiding terrorists–who have been on run since October 11 when first contact was established in Chamrer area of Poonch district–another contact was established in the evening today but ended without any success once again.
To boost the morale of the Security Forces engaged in joint CTOs and to take stock of the situation on the ground, Mukesh Singh, Additional Director General of Police (Jammu Zone) visited the site of the ensuing operation on Sunday.
According to Vivek Gupta, DIG Rajouri-Poonch Police Range while talking to reporters on Saturday said; “We have been able to hold them (terrorists) up in a certain location and will be able to neutralise them in the shortest span of time by taking all due precautions”.
During the last seven days nine soldiers, including two JCOs have sacrificed their lives for the country at Chamrer and Bhata Dhurian where the CTO is in progress since October 14 evening.
A joint team of the Army, police, paramilitary forces, along with elite para commandos of the Indian Army is presently carrying out Counter Terrorist Operation (CTO) in the forest at Nar Khas, in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district.
On the other hand, hiding terrorists after a brief firefight stops retaliating to the Security Force’s heavy fire.
High trees, thick vegetation, high undergrowth, natural hideouts, etc are other reasons which helping the terrorists to survive for such a long period.
Meanwhile, activists of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) held a protest at Bhimber Gali (BG) against Pakistan for attacking the troops and demanded another surgical strike on the terrorists and their training centers.
