Jammu, Sept 29: To accelerate the development in Akhnoor town, Rakesh Malhotra councillor ward no 6 of MC kick started the development works of repairing drains in his ward on the demand of locals. The work of central drain with, slab and gratings started in Raja Bazar Akhnoor from Tokia cloth house to Shri Radha Krishan Mandir. On this occasion Ex chairman MC Akhnoor and Councillor ward no 11 Depesh Singh, Deepak Manni Councillor Ward no. 10, Shilpa Mahajan Councillor Ward No. 5, Navratan, Ashok Gupta, Adv Pankaj Gupta, Anil Sharma, Ramesh Tokia, Sahil Gupta, Vicky Langar were also present.
While addressing, Rakesh Malhotra said that the estimated cost of work is around Rs 40 lacs and the common drain for people of ward no 4, 5 and 6 will be constructed and repaired which will benefit the public at large. He said total work, which were identified in various ward are costing 1cr 47 lakhs out of which few are completed and few are in progress. He said often, we have seen the walls of houses got damaged due to drains when ever constructed along their houses hence we have initiated this work constructing the drain in the center of lane which will not affect any of houses and also will not affect the total width of the lane. He said that priority of MC Akhnoor is to provide better lane and drains. He told MC Akhnoor members are seriously working over the various issues of Akhnoor town and soon a suitable project for drainage for Nirdosh chowk and bus stand will also be started.
Further he said that from last few days power supply of town is affected a lot due to damaged cables near Sh Kameshwar Mandir which MC Akhnoor under the leadership of their president have got replaced and they expect smooth power supply now. He assured public of his ward that no development work will be left out.
