Ali, who had been on the run after being involved in multiple heinous crimes, was apprehended in a breakthrough operation carried out by the SHO Vijaypur Police Station under the supervision of SDPO Vijaypur and the overall guidance of SSP Samba, Varinder Singh Manhas JKPS.
The arrest was made after an intense and relentless search, with Fareed Ali, son of Lal Hussain, a resident of Rakh Barotian, Tehsil Vijaypur, being one of the main accused in two heinous criminal cases registered at Police Station Vijaypur. He had been a prime suspect in the sensational gang rape case as well as an attack on a police party in Rakh Barotian, Vijaypur. The cases are registered under FIR No. 111/2018 for attempted murder, house trespass, assault, and riot (Sections 307/452/323/147 RPC) and FIR No. 08/2021 for gang rape and assault (Sections 376-D/323/366/504 IPC). Despite numerous attempts by the police to arrest him, he had managed to remain at large until now.
