Rajouri, July 31: Drone warfare is a new challenge for which the police force must upgrade itself.
Continuing its drive to make the police officers aware of the latest challenges and to educate the Investigating officers (IOs) to address the ever-growing issue of Drones, DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range, Dr. Haseeb Mughal chaired a meeting of the officers at the District Police Office (DPO) in Poonch.
The meeting was attended by Additional SP Poonch, Mushim Ahmed; 2 I/C 38 Bn CRPF, Devinder Singh Bisht; Deputy SP DAR, Mohd Shafiq; Deputy SP PC Surankote, Hamid Ali; Dy.SP HQs Poonch, Afrat Hussain; SDPO Mendhar, Sheezan Bhat; Deputy SP (Ops) Poonch, Aijaz Ahmed; Dy.SP CID SB (Jammu), Mohd Azeem; and officers from other Intelligence agencies.
To make the cops aware of the latest challenges and to educate the investigating officers to address the ever-growing issues of drones, DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range, Dr. Haseeb Mughal, IPS, made an elaborate presentation on the issue in the meeting on Monday.
Earlier, SSP Poonch, Vinay Shrama welcomed the officers and threw light on the Drone challenges and problems being faced by the investigating officers.
DIG RP Range, Dr. Mohd Haseeb Mughal, IPS presented a detailed presentation on Drones, including an introduction to Drones, uses of Drones, technology involved in Drones, & understanding of Drone working/functioning etc.
The pictures and videos-documentaries of the drone threats were displayed during the presentation.
“Drone droppings in the border areas were shown to the officers so that they get the actual ground feel of the challenge. Besides that mitigation measures available to counter the Drone challenges were also discussed with the officers so as to prepare them for the field challenges-investigation,” said police.
It was also demonstrated to the officers while handling the Drone as evidence, what precautions are required to be taken & how to proceed for identification, preservation, and collection of forensic shreds of evidence.
DIG RP Range, Dr. Haseeb Mughal also highlighted the role of Drone-challenges awareness in the current scenario and urged the participants to understand the fundamentals of Drone technology in order to stay relevant in the present times.
He stressed the need of understanding the ever-increasing ambit of border issue vis-a-vis Drone dropping and related crimes.
“Police officers need to upgrade their knowledge and practical skills to investigate such crime,” said DIG.
He also briefed the officers/officials present about the digital evidence available with a Drone and how to collect/preserve, analyze, and utilize them for substantiating the offences during the investigation of the cases.
“Such presentations for the upkeep of knowledge and skill will be a regular feature of Rajouri-Poonch HQ Rajouri so as to equip the field officers to tackle unprecedented technological challenges-crimes in the future,” said Dr. Haseeb Mughal.
