Rajouri, November 27: The body of a 27-year-old man, namely Ranjeet Singh s/o Natha Ram resident of Saranoo village was recovered today after 13 days from the Tawi River in the vicinity few stone crusher units in Rajouri district.
A missing report was lodged with Rajouri police by the father of the deceased after he didn’t return home on November 15.
After three days of missing of Ranjeet Singh, the family and the villagers had found the clothes, shoes, sweater of the deceased from different locations along the Tawi River bank, and the police were informed accordingly.
After the recovery of the clothes, the police swung into action and with the help of divers started search for the body of Ranjeet Singh.
After hectic efforts for about three days, the divers couldn’t retrieve the body and police sought the help of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the Army also pressed its sniffer dog to locate the body.
But all the efforts of the police, SDRF, and Army teams also failed to trace the body.
After a warning of large-scale agitation against the district administration, help from NDRF was sought by the police.
An NDRF team from Jammu headed by Inspector Inder Lal Kohli also joined the search operation on Saturday.

“On Sunday NDRF/SDRF team spotted the body floating on the water near Saranoo and called the police,” said Inder Lal.
A police team reached the spot but the family members didn’t allow the authorities to retrieve the body claiming that Ranjeet have been murdered and the police failed to trace him despite their repeated requests.
Family members and the villagers were demanding that DC and SSP should visit the spot and assure them of a transparent investigation into the alleged murder of Ranjeet Singh.
