Jammu, Jul 30: In a major breakthrough that has brought a wave of relief to the outraged citizens of Jammu, the Gandhi Nagar Police have successfully apprehended the absconding driver of the black Mahindra Thar (JK02DP-9594) involved in a sensational hit-and-run case that left a scooty rider grievously injured on the evening of July 27, 2025, near the bustling Green Belt Park area of Gandhi Nagar.
The incident, which sparked widespread public anger and concern over reckless driving and rising road rage incidents in the city, saw a high-speed Thar mercilessly crash into a scooty (JK02BS-6435) before fleeing the scene. The scooty rider, reportedly thrown several feet due to the impact, sustained serious injuries, triggering immediate police action and massive public outcry.
Acting with remarkable speed and precision, the Gandhi Nagar Police Station registered FIR No. 163/2025 under Sections 281, 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), later invoking Section 109 BNS to further tighten the legal noose.
Under the close supervision of SDPO South and SP South Jammu Ajay Sharma JKPS, the police launched an intensive investigation-seizing the offending vehicle, scouring CCTV footage from multiple angles, recording eyewitness accounts, and initiating a determined manhunt across the city.
