Sundeep Chakravarthy, IPS, has attached a residential property worth approximately ₹1 Crore belonging to notorious drug peddler Pervaiz Ahmad Bhat of Takanwari, Karnabal.
- The action, executed under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act and confirmed by the competent authority under SAFEMA, targets Bhat who is implicated in FIR No. 02/2024 of Police Station Sangam and is currently under preventive detention under the PIT-NDPS Act.

Srinagar, June 25, 2025: In a significant and decisive strike against the financial backbone of the narcotics trade in the capital city, Srinagar Police, operating under the able supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, IPS, has attached a residential property valued at approximately ₹1 crore. The property, comprising a two-storeyed house along with land, belongs to Pervaiz Ahmad Bhat, a notorious drug peddler from Takanwari, Karnabal, and was established to have been acquired through the proceeds of illicit drug trafficking.
This formidable action represents a critical escalation in the ongoing war against drugs, shifting the focus from mere contraband seizure to the systematic dismantling of the financial infrastructure that fuels these criminal enterprises. The accused, Pervaiz Ahmad Bhat, is deeply implicated in Case FIR No. 02/2024, registered at Police Station Sangam under Sections 8, 20, and 29 of the NDPS Act. Highlighting the grave threat, he poses to society; he is presently under preventive detention under the stringent Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act.
The attachment of his property was executed under the powerful provisions of Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act. The legality and propriety of the seizure have been duly confirmed by the competent authority under the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act (SAFEMA), New Delhi, ensuring that the action is robust and legally sound. As a consequence of this formal seizure, the immovable property shall not be sold, transferred, or otherwise dealt with in any manner without prior permission from the competent authority, effectively freezing a major asset derived from crime.
Investigations have revealed that the accused has a history of drug peddling and was actively involved in supplying narcotics within the community. His activities were particularly pernicious as he was known for specifically targeting the local youth, thereby posing a serious and direct threat to public health and safety and contributing to the cycle of addiction and crime.
This operation is a cornerstone of the J&K Police’s broader, intensified strategy to combat drug trafficking networks.
