Jammu, June 9, 2025: In a significant triumph for law enforcement, Jammu Police, operating under the Headquarter Zone, has successfully apprehended Bagh Hussain, alias Baghu alias Sunny, a notorious and history sheeter criminal, from the state of Haryana. The arrest was the culmination of sustained investigative efforts in case FIR No. 53/2025 registered at Police Station Miran Sahib under Sections 109, 111, 132, 191(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 3/25 of the Arms Act. Bagh Hussain, son of Mangat Ali, resident of Balol Nallah near Kikri Morh, Bari Brahmana, and originally from Laswara, Tehsil Bishnah, was wanted in connection with numerous serious offences across multiple jurisdictions.

Following his arrest and during subsequent interrogation, Bagh Hussain disclosed that he had concealed the weapon of offence used in the Miran Sahib case, specifically a loaded pistol along with a “kulhadi” (axe), in Banachak village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Police Station Bishnah. Acting swiftly on this disclosure, a police team from Police Station Miran Sahib, commendably led by Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Jai Pal Sharma and Probationary Sub Inspector (PSI) Ajesh Jamwal, was dispatched to the location. The operation, conducted under the close supervision of Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) R S Pura, Sardar Gurmeet Singh, also received vital assistance from SHO Bishnah, Inspector Sushil Choudhary, and his team.

However, the weapon recovery process took a dangerous and violent turn. Displaying his hardened criminal tendencies and refusing to mend his ways, Bagh Hussain suddenly attempted to snatch the service weapon of Constable Arun Sharma, leading to a fierce scuffle during which the constable sustained injuries. In the lawful execution of their duty, and finding themselves under direct threat, the police party was compelled to open fire in self-defence and retaliatory action. Bagh Hussain sustained injuries during this incident. He was immediately shifted to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Bishnah for medical treatment and currently remains under police custody.

It is pertinent to highlight that Bagh Hussain is not an ordinary criminal but a seasoned history sheeter with an extensive and violent criminal record. A staggering 27 FIRs are registered against him across various police stations in Jammu, Samba, and even extending to Himachal Pradesh. Alarmingly, out of these, eight FIRs were specifically registered for assaults on police parties, including a recent and brazen attack on the Station House Officer of Police Station Baribrahmana. His criminal dossier includes grave charges such as attempt to murder, murder, dacoity, illegal arms possession, kidnapping, rioting, criminal conspiracy, obstruction of government duties, and violations of several other serious provisions of law.

The successful arrest of such a high profile and dangerous criminal from another state, followed by the recovery of weapons, once again demonstrates the unwavering dedication, efficiency, and reach of Jammu Police in tackling hardcore criminals and ensuring the safety and security of the public.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Joginder Singh, JKPS, and Incharge Superintendent of Police (SP) Headquarters Jammu, Ajay Sharma, JKPS, have lauded the exceptional courage, professionalism, and strong sense of duty displayed by the police team involved in this challenging operation. They particularly commended the swift response in recovering the arms and ammunition and ensuring the injured accused received prompt medical attention.

Further investigation into the case is actively underway to unearth the full extent of Bagh Hussain’s criminal network and his nefarious activities in the region. Jammu and Kashmir Police remains steadfastly committed to maintaining the Rule of Law, preserving law and order, upholding public trust, and ensuring that no criminal, however notorious, can escape the long arm of justice.
