Budget-2025 should be employment generating!

A vision beyond the conventional: The budget shouldn’t be just a carbon copy of previous governments

Every household should be transformed into a manufacturing unit, boosting income and reducing dependency on traditional jobs.
*The establishment of a “Peace Commission” for Jammu and Kashmir will be instrumental in reducing violence and strengthening the framework for lasting peace.
*I am ready to extend unconditional cooperation with the government in establishing the ‘Peace Commission’ and provide a draft sketch for the same.

Jammu, Feb 17: As Jammu and Kashmir prepares for the upcoming budget presentation, there is much anticipation surrounding the innovative approach that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah should bring to the table. This budget should be anticipated to be different from those of previous years, with a strong focus on youth employment, revenue generation, and addressing the region’s ongoing challenges.
Chief Minister Abdullah, now more experienced and mature than during his earlier tenure, should propose a transformative plan to uplift the region’s economy and its people. One of the most groundbreaking proposals is the idea of turning every household in Jammu and Kashmir into a small manufacturing unit. The goal is to empower people, particularly those at home, by enabling them to generate income through the production of small goods. By encouraging small-scale manufacturing, this initiative would not only create employment opportunities but also foster entrepreneurship, reduce dependency on traditional jobs, and promote local economic growth. This model has the potential to revolutionize how people view work, enabling them to earn a livelihood right at their doorstep.
In addition to economic reforms, Chief Minister Abdullah must focus on a critical issue that has plagued the region for decades-violence and terrorism. A revolutionary idea that establishment of a “Peace Commission” for Jammu and Kashmir. This commission would play a pivotal role in addressing the violence that has long been a source of turmoil and expenditure in the region. The commission would not only work toward reducing violence but also strive to bridge the gap between local communities and to identify the terrorist groups, effectively curbing recruitment efforts and isolating these destructive elements.
The Peace Commission is a unique concept that could set a global precedent. If successful, Jammu and Kashmir could become a model for conflict resolution, with the world looking to follow in its footsteps. The commission’s goal would be to dismantle terrorism at its roots, with an ambitious target of reducing it by more than 90% within three years. By disconnecting local youth from the influence of terrorist groups, the commission could significantly reduce the devastating loss of young lives and military personnel, which has long been a major concern in the region.
Creating the Peace Commission is not expected to require large sums of money. In its initial phase, a small investment would be sufficient to lay the groundwork. One of the key features of this initiative would be the creation of “Peace Ambassadors” from every corner of Jammu and Kashmir. These ambassadors would be responsible for spreading the message of peace, urging local communities to reject violence, and guiding youth away from the path of terrorism. Whereas, I am willing to cooperate in the formation of the ‘Peace Commission’ and can support the creation of its draft that too without any condition.
The establishment of this Peace Commission could significantly reduce the suffering of the people and ease the administrative challenges the region faces. The idea of peace, prosperity, and self-reliance through small-scale entrepreneurship and conflict resolution is a promising blueprint for Jammu and Kashmir’s future. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s upcoming budget has the potential to bring about much-needed change, and with the support of the people, these initiatives could pave the way for a brighter and more peaceful tomorrow for the region.
