Amritsar, Oct 15: The Shri Vaishno Dramatic Club is once again hosting the annual Ram Leela in Guru Nanak Pura, continuing a cherished tradition with great reverence. This year, the event saw notable attendees, including local councilor Davinder Pehlwan and Rajkumar Sharma from the Dharma Jagran organization, who gathered to witness the spectacle and unveil the “Ravan Vadh Night” segment of the performance.
During the event, Davinder Pehlwan extended heartfelt congratulations to Pankaj Sharma, the club’s president, and his dedicated team for their hard work and commitment. Speaking to the audience, Pehlwan emphasized the moral lessons inherent in Ram Leela, urging everyone to embrace the values of brotherly love, obedience to parents, and the importance of integrating these teachings into daily life. Rajkumar Sharma, acknowledging the efforts of the performers and organizers, praised them for their contribution to promoting Sanatan Dharma. He highlighted that the club has been staging Ram Leela for an impressive 18 years. Sharma encouraged attendees to engage with their local communities by bringing their children to neighborhood temples to recite the Hanuman Chalisa, thereby instilling these values in the next generation.
He also urged the audience to move away from Western cultural influences and adhere to the traditions of Sanatan Dharma. “Instead of cutting cake and blowing out candles on our birthdays, let us light lamps and offer prasad at the temple,” Sharma stated, underscoring that Sanatan Dharma values bringing light and joy rather than extinguishing it.
Additionally, Ashok Talwad, chairman of the Improvement Trust, honored the artists with awards for their outstanding performances. The event was attended by prominent figures, including Davinder Pehlwan, Rajkumar Sharma, Daljinder Singh Heera, Pankaj Sharma, and the entire cast of performers. This year’s Ram Leela not only celebrated the rich cultural heritage of the region but also served as a reminder of the enduring values of love, respect, and community engagement that define Sanatan Dharma.
