Renowned Jammu surgeon elected Governing Council member of ASI

Jammu, Sep 18 (UNI) Renowned surgeon Prof. (Dr) Sanjay Bhasin has brought laurels to Government Medical College Jammu as he has been elected as Governing Council member of Association of Surgeons of India (ASI).
As per the comminique, Professor of Surgery in GMC Jammu Dr Bhasin have been elected as Governing Council Member of the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI) unopposed. Association of Surgeons of India is first largest surgical academic body of Asia-Pacific and second largest of the world with more than 40000 surgeons as its members from across India and world. Seventy members Governing Council is the highest decision making body of Surgeons with representatives from all the states of the country.
Dr. Bhasin joined ASI as Full Life Member in 2002 and is Founder Member of the J&K State Chapter of the ASI (JAKASI) and has served as active member of JAKASI at various positions like, Executive Member, Joint Secretary, Honorary Secretary (2017-20220) and Chairman/President JAKASI (2022-2024).
As per the comminique, he remained active organizer of various surgical events of the association at National and state level since last more than a decade including JAKSICON-2014, 2015, 2018, and 2024.
In addition he successfully organized prestigious Regional Refresher Course for surgeons at GMC Jammu in August 2023 that is National event of the ASI. He has been bestowed upon with many prestigious orations by surgical bodies including Dr. P.K.Sen Sarma (Endowment Lecture) during ASICON-2020 and Chairman’s Orations in the near past.
He has published more than three dozen papers in National and International journals and have presented more than hundred Guest Lectures during State and National Conferences.
Dr. Bhasin is an outstanding academician, surgeons and administrator with vast teaching and training experience.
His join the biggest association as Governing Council member shall not only boost morale of JK Surgeons but shall give an opportunity to him to put up various issues of surgical fraternity of J&K at national level and shall help bridging gap between Surgeons of J&K and other parts of the country, it read.
